In a political era where rancor reigns supreme, it was fascinating to watch a mayor completely countermand that trend and bring civility back to the process. A good friend likes to tell me that very few politicians understand the concept of quality time, but not Mayor Kaptain!
I read the COURIER piece. People speak more freely when the event is “unofficial.”
Referring to village and town festivals, retired Elburn police chief Wayne Byerhof says it best:
“An informal event that gets people together to eat, meet and talk goes a long way to getting little'”problems” solved before they become BIG PROBLEMS.”
