I know it’s disingenuous, but that was a good one!

Today’s Left, Right and You that is.  And you can listen to it right here:

Jeff Meyer

Jeff Meyer

We’ll start with a thank you to attorney extraordinaire and friend of the show, Jeff Meyer, for calling in to enlighten us  on those contentious stand your ground laws.

And thanks for all the folks who called in (Tracy, Mary, Thomas, Rex, Dan Jeff, and the others) who proved we can have a civil discussion on race in America.

Enjoy the show!

If it’s Thursday…

Then it must be time for Left, Right and You! Today, on WRMN AM1410 from 3 to 4 p.m. my capable, but misguided co-host Allen Skillicorn and I will discuss:  racist-media-left-right-and-you-radio

  • The Trayvon Martin shooting and how that whole scenario was racially motivated.
  • Legal expert Jeff Meyer will call in to explain Illinois’ stand your ground law.
  • Are we so fragile that our world can be turned upside down by the cover of the Rolling Stone?
  • And Yes! Anthony Wiener is back! But for how long?

And you can always call in to share your thoughts (please be on topic) at 847-931-1410.  Be there or be square.

For your Left, Right and You listening convenience…

you can find the July 18 edition right here:  Left, Right and You 7-18-13

An especially big thank you to eminently reasonable Metra Board member Jack Schaffer for calling into theJack Schaffer show and telling it like it is. Is there any Jedi Knight out there who can rid us of Darth Madigan?

Jack Schaffer

Jack Schaffer

We also covered the seemingly eternal U46 discrimination suit which may well be coming to a close. Our fondest wish is to have a member of the defense team on the show soon.

Another thanks to 25th District State Senator Jim Oberweis for calling in. In a too-rate bipartisan effort with other state reps, Jim will be one of the hosts at a well-worthwhile Saturday, July 20 health care symposium at Marmion School in Aurora.  You can learn more about it here.

As always, thank you for listening.

It may be hot, but Left, Right and You is cool!

Please join Allen Skillicorn and me today on WRMN AM1410 from 3 to 4 p.m. It’s gonna be a good one folks:  metra-public-transit-fraud-jeff-ward-allen-skillicorn

  • Board member Jack Schaffer will call in to discuss Metra’s latest CEO follies. Remember Mr. Schaffer is the only one who had the nerve to stand up to Darth Madigan and his minions.
  • After 9 long years, the fat lady is finally singing in the U46 discrimination case. We’ll remind you of the major role Elgin played in this farce.
  • Then we’ll ask if anyone’s really surprised by the Trayvon Martin verdict and whether stand your ground laws are a good idea.

All this and your calls at 847-931-1410.   How did Rush Put it:

Invisible airwaves crackle with life
Bright antennae bristle with the energy
Emotional feedback on timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price, almost free

Ho Lee Fuk!

I know it’s bad form for a former columnist to take so much delight in a news outlet’s unimaginable incompetence and it’s even worse to take delight in stupid stereotypes, but this time I just can’t help myself.

You’ve probably already heard this story, but in case you haven’t, when a San Francisco news station covered the recent Asiana Airlines crash they reported the pilots’ names as:

  • Captain Sum Ting Wong
  • Wi Tu Lo
  • Ho Lee Fuk, and
  • Bang Ding Ow

Being a suspicious group, the newroom called the NTSB only to have a summer intern confirm those names as 100 percent accurate. He lost his non-paying job, of course, but what a way to go.  When I saw the story on the Daily Show I laughed my ass off for 10 straight minutes.

Fuk’n c’mon folks. What competent news director in just half of his right mind would ever have the nerve to hand that sheet of paper to the on air talent and say “read it!” complete with background graphic!  Then they have the nerve to wonder why the estimation of the media may well be right around our contempt for Congress.

And Bill Maher was even funnier when he said, “Now that we know the cause of that Asiana Airlines crash was the pilots flying too slowly, I don’t want to hear another word about me doing Asian driver jokes.”

Truth, my friends, is indeed, far stranger than fiction.

The 7/11 Left, Right and You is…

a wrap. And you can listen to your little heart’s content right here:

Left, Right and You 7-11-13

Michael Scott Carter

Michael Scott Carter

A big thank you for Illinois GOP Treasurer candidate Michael Scott Carter who made so much sense he got my  vote!

Another tip of the hat to Stacy Kranz who warned us all of the perils of puppy mills and stores who sell those poor creatures. Why get a puppy when there are so many great dogs that need to be adopted from local shelters and pet rescues.

We also discussed Governor Quinn’s not-so-subtle blackmail attempt as well as the new federal immigration bill that’s being demolished as we speak.

The enlightenment is free. Enjoy!

Who needs a Big Gulp when you have the 7/11 edition of Left, Right and You…

Coming up in a mere matter of hours! Please join Allen Skillicorn and I on WRMN AM1410 from 3 to 4 today as we tackle the tough topics like:  Listening-Device-jeff-ward-allen-skillicorn

  • Did Governor Quinn actually grow a pair and, if so, will his blackmail attempt get IL legislators to finally come to grips with our pension problem?
  • African-American GOP Illinois Treasurer Michael Scott Carter calls into the show.
  • The U.S. Senate finally passes a bi-partisan immigration bill and it’s even worse than the Affordable Care Act.
  • And speaking of Obamacare, a major part of that bill was just postponed! Is it the beginning of the end?

All this and your calls at 847-931-1410. You don’t wanna miss it!
