If we are classifying Tuesday (November 3, 2020) as a success from a congressional standpoint, we will get fucking torn apart in 2022. That’s the reality. — Virginia Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger
If you’ve been paying attention to the recent New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial election results then you already know Ms. Spanberger’s prophesized “tearing apart” has already come to pass! Poll projections had Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy coasting to an easy 7- to 9-point victory, but when the election night smoke cleared, Murphy squeaked by his GOP challenger by a scant 0.08 percent.
Worse yet, in a race that was purportedly his to lose, incumbent Virginia Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe managed to muster just 48.6 percent of the vote against Republican political neophyte Glenn Youngkin. To be fair, McAuliffe’s untimely electoral demise is also attributable to the pushback against the bullshit Democratic COVID mitigations, particularly in schools, and President Biden’s woeful approval ratings.
But make no mistake, the late poll swing in Youngkin’s favor was the direct result of McAuliffe handing him the perfect opportunity to define him. To wit, when McAuliffe was challenged on vetoing legislation that would’ve forced schools to warn parents about sexually explicit curriculum content, his answer couldn’t have been worse; “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”
Well…I suppose it could’ve been worse…he could’ve used the N-word.
But to say something that frighteningly tone deaf at a time when parents are seething at school boards for ignoring their pleas to pull their children from the pandemic abyss belies the kind of vast Democratic arrogance that just ended a promising political career. Worse yet, that beyond stupid statement gave Youngkin a massive opening to hang the overly obese critical race theory albatross around McAuliffe’s neck. And when Youngkin repeatedly played that sordid soundbite in the waning campaign days, it was all over but the shouting.
Though it’s not exactly germane to where we’re going, please bear with this veteran campaign manager who can’t help but swerve into the correct two-part response to that attack.
The first is Politics 101! “I thought Republicans were the party of less government, not more. I take our children’s education very seriously and the last thing our school districts need right now is another unfunded mandate from Richmond. That’s why I vetoed that bill. Of course, parents should have a voice in their children’s education and the best way to be “heard” is to vote in school board elections.”
Part two would’ve blunted further attacks, “I don’t know where my opponent gets his information, but Virginia schools don’t teach critical race theory and we have no plans to start. I’d also be willing to bet my bottom dollar that my opponent couldn’t define CRT if you spotted him two full sentences. Considering all the pandemic damage, the only thing we should worry about right now is getting our children back on track.”
And that would’ve been the end of it.
But as bad as that debate response was, there’s a cart and horse element to it that can’t be ignored. Were it not for the Democrat’s fixation on courting political suicide, the topic never would’ve come up! Because whether it’s “defunding the police” or “critical race theory,” those horrific messaging choices only serve to terrify those critical Caucasian suburban mother swing voters who run right into Donald Trump’s waiting arms as a result.
Don’t get me wrong, the theories themselves aren’t the problem. Utterly irrelevant “scholars” and sociology professors always have to come up with provocative papers to justify their generally meaningless existence so their colleges will keep them on the dole and they’ll never have to deal with the real world.
No! The problem is that Democrats just can’t help themselves. In their absurd race to that impossible “wokest” ideal, they pander to the progressive worst of their Party by embracing utterly insane concepts that provide Republicans with the kind of visceral campaign messages that serve up election victories on a silver platter. And now that the GOP is armed with what’s clearly a winning formula, the Republican mantra will be “rinse, lather, and repeat!”
Wouldn’t you think the Dems would’ve learned something from the Republican Party’s facility to frame a message? Estate tax to “Death Tax” and domestic spying to the “Patriot Act,” just to name a few.
Worse yet, the concept of critical race theory is so poorly defined that it gives Republicans free reign to “explain” it in the most terrifying terms. The head-banging-on-the-wall irony there, of course is, other than claiming institutionalized racism is a form of “white original sin”, it offers absolutely nothing new.
What? Institutionalized racism still exists in America? No!
But the second and exponentially worse irony is, anyone who thinks teaching CRT is a good idea IS ALREADY GONNA VOTE DEMOCRATIC, so why do the Dems insist on preaching to the choir while they lose the rest of the church?
The new pronoun absurdity is just another prime example of this inexplicable “how do we ensure our complete un-electability” trend. Despite my demonstrable social liberalness, every time I see another nitwit put “she/her/hers” or “he/him/his” by their name it makes me want to beat the crap out of the nearest progressive and vote for Donald Trump. And if that’s what it does to me, imagine what it does to those suburban mothers who can’t begin to comprehend the notion that we suddenly require gender-based crib notes.
And who exactly are we trying to placate here? The 0.42 percent transgender community and their bully pulpit allies who’s reign of terror desperately needs to end? Where’s Dave Chappelle when you really need him?
I’ll quote Bill Maher one more time! “We need Republicans with a heart and Democrats with a brain.” Why is it that Republicans listen and Democrats preach? And as long the Dems continue to insist on embracing the progressive notion that the far left always knows what’s best for the rest of us, they will lose elections. Which brings us right back to Ms. Spanberger’s “Democrats are gonna get torn a 2022 new one” declaration.
She’s one of those rare politicians who actually grasps the notion that getting elected first, and then starting the revolution, is the only way it ever works. Because if the Trump-aligned other side continues to win important races, there won’t be a revolution. And if the Party of the jackass doesn’t heed those dire New Jersey and Virginia messaging warnings – and heed them quickly – the looming 2022 Democratic bloodbath will make Ms. Spanberger’s prediction look like a fuckin’ nursery rhyme.
The 2022 Democratic bloodbath is totally deserved . . . the Democrats promised the sky and after they were elected started digging trenches . . . VERY DEEP trenches . . . Democrats keep moving farther and farther right . . . The people want paid family leave, Business says NO, so NO . . The people want Free Community college, the 4-year colleges say NO, So No . . . The people want $15 Minimum Wage, Business says NO, so No . . The people want M4A, The Insurance Industry says NO, So No . . . The list is L O N G . . . where what ‘The people want’ has over a 70% popularity BUT . . our politician’s owners only care about profits over people . . .
. . . If we had M4A over 250,000 people would not have died of Covid . . BUT . . the Medicine for Profit industry would have made less profit and we cannot have that . . . . . . . ¿ ¿ Can you say Corruption ? ? . . Sure . . I knew you could . . .
As Samuel Clemens once supposedly said: “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”
