Oh Lord! Please grant me freedom from religion

Oh Lord! Please grant me freedom from religion

religious liberty
Every time I see one of those suddenly ubiquitous Protect Religious Liberty bumper stickers I get a little bit queasy. The Statue of Liberty with a cross in her hand? C’mon! That ain’t the way it’s supposed to be. Remember, we don’t have a state sponsored religion.
So on Monday Patch I, once again tackle the notion that freedom of religion also means freedom from religion. And if the Catholic Church – or any other church – are going to run a business – and a church is a business – then you have to abide by the Affordable Care Act.
Because if you don’t, then I’m gonna come up with a religion that says traffic laws are the work of the devil and I’ve got you in my sights!

  1. True…the US does not have a State sponsered religion because all are supposed to be free to practice. BUT, a single religion should not be under attack by the same State just because its the biggest and has done wrong in the past.
To your point about ObamaCare…Churchs that believe it will cause them to break their tenets, should take the penalties. Just as if one believes war is unjustified killing\Murder and therefore a Sin, then the penalty from dodging the Draft is jail.
