It’s that wonderful time of year when your favorite columnist takes his singular Christmas to New Year writing break to recharge for the inevitable journalistic challenges of that impending calendar shift. That means no columns and no WRMN Thursday morning appearance next week.
That said, I will likely write something about the March death of my youngest brother Michael, an event I learned about through the most circuitous route you could imagine. I’m not looking for sympathy or condolences because I mourned his loss long ago. All I’ll say for now is addiction is a truly powerful thing, particularly in my family.
Meanwhile, it’s certainly the appropriate time to thank all of the generous readers who contributed to The First Ward cause over the past year. Lastly, I hope this holiday season brings you the peace of mind that all too often eludes us in this often absurd existence. So, here’s to a Merry Christmas and a better New Year.
