Another DOA Podcast Shadwick King retrial update!

I figured I’d head over to Kane County courtroom 319 for a mere 45 minutes yesterday (6/30) afternoon just to see a little bit of the King retrial it for myself. Considering this thing will most certainly head into its third week, I didn’t think I’d get to observe anything of consequence. But boy, was I wrong! There is one slam dunk piece of evidence that, not unsurprisingly, the prosecution doesn’t seem at all concerned about, but I know the judge understands it.

So, in an effort to start your Fourth of July weekend off right, here’s a brief DOA update based on that window into yesterday’s proceedings.

I realize I’m a bit hard on the participants involved, but it’s for good reason. The lack of preparedness, the incessant bickering between the prosecution and the defense – for no good reason, the massive waste of Judge John Barsanti’s time, and all the testimony that goes absolutely nowhere, in a major murder case, don’t bode well for our legal system. I would expect more from a fifth grade class than what I saw in that courtroom.

Both Kathleen Zelner and Greg Sams need to retire after this trial. The 45 minutes of questioning and testimony I observed could’ve easily been distilled down to ten minutes, and that includes building the requisite foundation.

Why will Judge Barsanti see what I saw yesterday? Because he’s a runner! This case is over. King will be re-convicted.
