Oh no! Those open minded and ever-so-tolerant Mill Creek dwellers aren’t bigots. I’m sure some of their best friends are Hispanic.
Exactly as I predicted, at the second public meeting, Kent Shodeen came back with a request for 290 Mill Creek apartments as opposed to the original 390. But despite my previous Patch column where I called out those folks for who they really are and encouraged them to secede from the county, they can’t help but let their true colors show. 
At that meeting, one actually quipped they don’t want “those people” walking around their neighborhood while another demanded that Shodeen Management conduct background checks for anyone submitting a rental application.
The real irony is folks, per yesterday’s Chronicle, 40 percent of Kane County children under five are Hispanic, 7.5 percent are African-American, and 3.6 percent are Asian. That means in less than two decades, white folks will be the the minority out here.
I’d start practicing your best Spanish.
