Steve Chapman on "The Multitudinous Mitt"

Conservative columnist Steve Chapman hit another journalistic homerun today when he called out Mitt Romney for changing his position more often than Lady Gaga adjusts her hairstyle. “Having it both ways is Romney’s specialty,” he wrote, “No position is ever final.”

Chicago Tribune columnist Steve Chapman

The reason I didn’t get too excited about the President’s poor debate performance is because I was so stunned by this suddenly liberal Mitt Romney. How can you possibly debate someone who can’t be pinned down to a specific stance on anything? As Chapman put it “there’s a version of Mitt for everyone.”
First he’s gonna cut taxes and now he isn’t. He attacks Rick Perry for supporting the Dream Act and now he does too.  He disowned his Massachusetts health care plan until suddenly embracing it last week. First he said 47 percent of us were irredeemable lazy bums and now he says he was “totally wrong”
Shouldn’t this send up the scariest of all red flags?
“Having it both ways and all ways is Romney’s specialty,” Chapman continues, “In his previous life, he supported abortion rights, gun control and gays in the military. Today, not so much.”
C’mon Republicans – wake up! Is your hatred for President Obama so deep (and racist) that you’re willing to elect a guy who will literally say anything to get elected? This “our guy can do no wrong” phenomenon is as scary as shit. Thank God for folks like Chapman who are willing to call out fake conservatives.
Though I don’t usually give away a column’s ending, this one’s too good to pass up. Chapman summarized it with this joke; “A liberal, a conservative and a moderate walk into a bar. The bartender says, “Hi Mitt.”
