Bob Woodward is a fricken' moron

Please write this down, If a reporter or columnist is not regularly threatened, then they’re not doing their job. And the fact that most of ’em don’t have to face any intimidation (Beacon-News or Chronicle for example) only means exactly what you think it means.   woodward
In my former journalistic incarnation, I was threatened all the time. That doesn’t make me some sort of hero, it just means I actually understood what it meant to be a columnist. You were supposed to dig, reasonably confront, and make the bad guys feel uncomfortable.
And the fact that some of them wouldn’t take it lying down was par for the course.
Former Kane County quadruple dipper and supposed county board attorney Ken Shepro physically came after me in that Building A boardroom screaming and shouting the whole time. His subsequent verbal assaults got so bad that I had to go to then State’s Attorney John Barsanti to get him to relent.
Then the usual board member suspects – Hurlbut, Wyatt, Jones etc… tried to get me fired over it. But until now, I never really talked about it.
Former Chairman Karen McConnaughay frequently went to my editors and even went as far as the publisher of the Sun-Times with some barely implied threats to get me to back down. When that didn’t work they offered me a job.
Elgin Senator Mike Noland got so mad at one particular question that he screamed and yelled at me for five minutes before hanging up and running to my editors to have me fired.
Congressman Bill Foster’s people blatantly lied to my editors in the most egregious effort to shut me up.
Which brings us to slimy author/reporter Bob Woodward.
Woodward continues to claim he suffered horrific abuse at the hands of nefarious Obama lackey and top economic aide Gene Sperling, but the actual email “threat” was just released to Politico. What Sperling really wrote was, “I know you may not believe this, but as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim.”
And Woodward’s horrified response was, “I also welcome your personal advice. I am listening.”
My God man! It sounds just like the Israeli-Palestinian discourse! C’mon! This is nothing more than a case of a publicity hungry and aging reporter pandering to Republicans to get more book press.
Of course, the rabid and immature GOP jumped on it like a flock of piranha on floating chicken. I may kid my radio co-host Allen Skillicorn, but apparently he’s the only conservative left who’s willing to wait for the whole story before passing judgment. He’s certainly the only one who doesn’t blame the black president for absolutely fricken’ everything.
And once again, those self-righteous Republicans – who actually out CIA agents when they throw a temper tantrum – ended up looking just as bad as Woodward.
What was Woodward’s utterly lame response to being exposed as a fraud? What Sperling wrote “would’ve scared off a less-experienced reporter.” But he didn’t write it to a less experienced reporter. And Bullshit! It would only scare off a bad reporter (though there certainly are plenty of those).
The only thing Bob Woodward deserves is our pity. He certainly doesn’t warrant any respect.
