It certainly ain’t all about the children!
Given the enormity of the educational task, the preponderance of fragile parents who believe their ill-mannered progeny are “special,” and the fact that my wife is one, I’ve generally held teachers in the highest esteem, particularly in print.
But as the Oracle of Omaha once warned us, “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.” And all it took was a beyond poor pandemic response to make me understand that ubiquitous teacher mantra, “It’s all about the children,” is just about as empty a platitude as “Mexico will pay for the wall!”
It has absolutely nothing to do with the children.
