The chairman is at it again!

The chairman is at it again!

Kane County Chairman Karen McConnaughay couldn’t keep her story straight if she was using a yardstick and her life depended upon it.
I have no problem with former Sugar Grove Police Chief Brad Sauer standing in as interim coroner, but even I can’t believe McConnaughay had the nerve to say this:
“I see it (the coroner) as clearly a law enforcement position. State statute says if anything happens to the Sheriff it is the coroner who steps into that position. That clearly indicates to me that it is a law enforcement position. So I wanted someone who had a law enforcement background…”
Say what?
First, I understand the queen doesn’t like Sheriff Perez, but given that bizarre statement and the fact that Sauer only serves until November, I’m wondering  if she’s planning on bumping the Sheriff off. Were I Pat  Perez, I’d be keeping the Kevlar on after work.
Second, the chairman is just making things up again. If “something happens to the sheriff,” state law prescribes the coroner will replace him only if there is no undersheriff or other similar second in command. Thus, Dave Wagner would actually fill the void if “something happened to him.”
And third, wait a minute! Isn’t this the same Chairman McConnaughay who, as cited in this 2010 Tribune article, was eagerly advocating for replacing the coroner with a medical examiner? Of course, the only reason she’s suddenly saying it’s a “law enforcement position” is because she wants her handpicked boy, Rob Russell, to prevail in November.
This woman has brought the art of creating parallel universes to a whole new level. As my favorite TV Judge likes to say, “I wouldn’t believe her if her tongue came notorized.”
