Part of the hitch in our negotiation information giddyup is that they’re meeting at one of the middle schools and, as any of those students will tell you, cell phone reception is spotty at best. So the news is there is no news.
But if they were close to a settlement, they would’ve called the full board in to potentially vote on it and that has not happened.
Another key thing to remember is that there’s no federal mediator involved this evening because they don’t work on weekends. And the primary function of that individual is to lend and unemotional and unbiased eye to the proceedings. Considering all the current rancor, that absence does not bode well.
My understanding is this won’t be a marathon negotiating session so hopefully we’ll have an answer before 11 p.m.
