Aren’t we all tired of bullies and especially those of the corporate ilk? The good news is, in Monday’s Courier-News column, we take one of ’em on!
You see, Starbucks has taken offense at an Algonquin doggy daycare center that calls themselves Starbarks and, despite the owner’s willingness to makes some logo changes, they refuse to relent. And this from a global giant that pays all sorts of lip service to corporate responsibility and fiscal stewardship.
One would think that Starbucks, who made their massive name marketing mediocre and overpriced coffee, would understand the value of a positive corporate image. Unlike what P. T. Barnum was alleged to have said, not at all publicity is a good thing.
Not only that, but please patronize your local independent coffee shop. They actually give back to our community and they don’t have the nerve to refer to their employees as baristas which shows you just how elite those west coast Seattle folks can be.
