Of course we want to thank Elgin Parks Director Randy Reopelle and Park Advisory Board Director Carl Misselle for not only coming on the show to explain the Elgin Park District’s tobacco ban, but talking about where the parks might be going next.
I hope you find the discussion as fascinating as I did.
The Smiling Conservative will be back on Thursday when we discuss St. Charles’ latest folly, 40 year Courier News Reporter Dave Gathman retires, how the Tribune is currently enjoying a massive double standard, and more! Until then…
In an effort to stop me from alienating the other half of the population, and taking a cue from “The Sound of Music,” that dastardly Larry Jones removed some strategic parts from my venerable pickup truck so I can’t get to Elgin this morning. And he did it late on a Saturday afternoon so the shop couldn’t get the parts till today!
But not to fear dear listener! You can still get your LR&Y fix because WRMN will re-air last Thursday’s show in our normal Monday morning spot. Rest assured, the Smiling Conservative and I will be back on the airwaves on Thursday.
It may be blustery outside, but you’ll get none of that on today’s eminently entertaining episode of Left, Right and You! In that very regard Larry and I will discuss issues like:
The Edgar County loons lost a bet with me, but now they won’t pay up.
How I might’ve been a bit hasty about women and SUVs.
The Kane County Coroner issues a statement on his errant credit card use. Of course, I’m not suspicious at all that this penitence came the day after his primary opponent announced.
The Kane County Board votes down a tax increase, but it would’ve passed if it weren’t for the Democrats!
Some strange – and not so strange – Kane County Republican primaries are shaping up.
Could some recent compromise Springfield offers mean the end of our state budget battle? This time it’s the Democrats who might have to give a little bit.
All this and more on Left, Right and You, Mondays at 9 a.m. and Thursdays at 3 p.m. with the Smiling Conservative, Larry Jones, and me, the Curmudgeonly Liberal, on WRMN AM1410. Prepare to be enlightened!
And apparently, as the lovely Mrs. Swoboda (Elgin Police Chief’s Jeff Swoboda’ wife) pointed out, it’s bad form to say women can’t drive SUVs on the air. So please let me revise that statement. Only women who don’t listen to Left, Right and You can’t handle an SUV.
With that out of the way, Derek and I did discuss:
An interesting new KDOT traffic initiative
The correct way to turn left
How the Daily Herald blew a golden opportunity to make a comeback
And some strange Kane County GOP primary challenges
The Smiling Conservative will be back on Thursday when we’ll cover all sorts of interesting local topics. And don’t forget that Elgin City Councilman Terry Gavin will be joining us in-studio on Thursday, November 19. Until then…
That’s right dear listeners, the lovely Derek and I will tackle topics like:
How none of you all know how turn left and how a KDOT initiative is attempting to fix that.
How, in light of the ongoing Gliniewicz revelations, local investigative journalism is clearly non-existent. We’ll use the Daily Herald as a perfect example.
Time permitting, how some strange Kane County Republican primary battles are shaping up. Ken Shepro is running for Chairman? Be still by beating humorous heart! The only thing more entertaining than that would be Board Member Davoust running for County Clerk again.
Meanwhile, please call in to the show (847-931-1410) and tell us how you were taught to turn left and the Daily Herald is always welcome to call (but I bet they won’t).
