And today was a day of agreement between your favorite co-hosts because sane liberals and conservatives have more in common than either side would like to admit!
As far as U-46 School Board member Jeanette Ward goes, given her “gay is a choice” pronouncement among many others, her effectiveness as a school board member is finished. And if Cody Holt doesn’t divorce himself from her, he will soon follow suit.
Not only that, but the Streamwood Park District is in for a world of hurt if they don’t start coughing up the appropriate documents and explaining their runaway spending. It ain’t easy to get the BGA on your Butt, but they managed to do it!
And to put the period on the Left, Right and You sentence, not only is Elgin doing the right thing by arming their police officers with body cameras, but they got a $250,000 grant to do just that!
The Smiling Conservative and I would also like to thank Lisa and Sue for calling in with some cogent points!
Monday! Kurt Kozjarek will be back in the hot seat when we’ll talk about the fallout from the last Republican debate. Until then…
With the Smiling Conservative back at my right hand (where else would he be?), as you might imagine, we’ve got a lot to talk about! Not the least of which is U-46 School Board member Jeanette Ward voting against a proposed anti-bullying program despite the fact it will save the district $500,000 in the first year alone!
To learn why Ms. Ward voted no, you’ll have to listen to the show. But trust me, this one’s a doozy even for her!
Then the Streamwood Park District has managed to get the attention of the BGA which isn’t easy for a small suburban government entity to do. And their defense against the press prying into that board’s runaway spending is almost as good as Ms. Ward’s last School Board meeting statement.
Time permitting, we’ll get former police chief Larry’s take on body cameras for all Elgin police officers. And the City just got the grant to buy ’em too.
That’s Left, Right and You, Mondays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. with the Smiling Conservative, Larry Jones, and me, the Curmudgeonly Liberal, on WRMN AM1410. This one will be entertaining – I promise!
And the Smiling Conservative and I certainly want to thank Elgin City Councilwoman Tish Powell for filling in with such aplomb today!
We discussed quite a bit too! The Tower Building, marijuana, all day kindergarten, the Fringe Festival and we gave a huge shoutout to EPD Sergeant Erickson for how he handled a large group of teenagers at the local Taco Bell. This is community policing at it’s best folks!
Tish and I would also like to thank Elgin’s First Lady Elinor Richow for yet another great phone call!
Thursday! The Smiling Conservative will be back and when we’ll discuss a little bit more about EPD body cameras and some unfortunate comments made by a U46 School Board member. Until then…
That’s right! With Democratic State Rep Anna Moeller having waded in on the Springfield budgetary festivities, it’s time to get the Republican point of view and, with the Smiling Conservative firmly back in the saddle, we’ll do just that on today’s show.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, we’ll also talk with Steve about his recently announced reelection bid. Though I’m not quite sure why anyone would want to be sent down to Springfield a second time!
Don’t forget Snakewatch 2015 either. In fact, I think I may have found the crafty critter while running near the Mill Creek subdivision. Tell me what you think!
Though I will say that he didn’t move a whole lot.
That’s Left, Right and You, Mondays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. with the Smiling Conservative, Larry Jones, and me, the Curmudgeonly Liberal, on WRMN AM1410. It’s the only radio show that matters!
And, once again, Kurt Kozjarek and I provided the kind of insights into local politics that you just don’t get anywhere else starting with a complete explanation of the frivolity of Rob Russells impending lawsuit against the county. Though I still say my pre-monogrammed body bag giveaway is a great Idea that would actually save the Coroner money!
And by the way, the Coroner’s chachkies, pictured above, are not only a non-mandated expense, but a blatant attempt to campaign on the County’s dime. Every other countywide elected official simply gives away pens!
We also discussed how the Hideway 64 and residents came together to make that restaurant resurgence happen as well as providing our thoughts on some of the newly announced local candidates. And we actually agreed on the merit of 65th District State Rep Steve Andersson.
The smiling conservative is back in the saddle on Thursday when we will have have the aforementioned State Rep Andersson join us for the whole show. Until then…
Flanked by the lovely Kurt Kozjarek, we will tackle topics like:
The County Board’s assessment of the impending Coroner lawsuit
Who’s running, who might be running, and who isn’t running!
How The Hideaway and the neighborhood came together to make it work
How the County budget certainly seems to be rounding into shape
Oh! and don’t forget Geneva Snakewatch 2015 – day 21. The Mill Creek subdivision is still on lockdown!
That’s Left, Right and You, Mondays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. with the Smiling Conservative, Larry Jones, and me, the Curmudgeonly Liberal, on WRMN AM1410. Could it possibly get any better than this?
First, Larry and I want to thank 43rd District State Rep Anna Moeller for filling his shoes so admirably today on such short notice. And let me tell ya, we covered the current Springfield debacle from top to bottom.
Kurt Kozjarek returns on Monday and I hear today’s Judicial and Public Safety meeting was a real doozy! Apparently, Coroner Rob Russel isn’t nearly done trashing his budget. Until then…
