This is the July 27, 2015 edition of Left, Right and You

We went a little astray today what with national politics and all – particularly the presidential candidate of both parties – but as long as no one tells Larry, I’ll be OK!

And, by the way, I’d like to thank Producer Dave Weiser for filling for Larry and man-about-Elgin J. Koko for providing insights from the Bernie Sanders rally in Madison, Wisconsin. I also want to thank Pete for calling in with one of his typically cogent comments.

I may have also predicted the outcome of the 2016 scramble for the White House, but you’ll have to listen to the show for that.

StuckThe Smiling Conservative will be back in the studio on Thursday when we’ll get right back to local issues like the recently refiled Elgin Tower Building lawsuit. Until then…

  1. Enjoyed the show. I definitely agree that Trump is a major bully — it’s his brand. You didn’t really get into my thought, though. Do you think he really believes the “stuff” he spouts? My personal opinion, for what it’s worth, is that he will say anything and in as abrasive a way as possible because he’s an attention whore. He just wants attention. I don’t think even he truly believes everything he says. And I don’t think he WANTS to be president. This playing around with it is just a way to get attention. And I think it really strokes his ego to be the spoiler for the Republicans. He’s willing to throw anybody under the bus if it gets him attention. “I spit on anyone who chose [or were chosen, but McCain was not a draftee] to serve their country and go to Vietnam, especially if they got captured because they put themselves anywhere near the fighting” (after all, how many people got captured while serving in Japan, or even in Saigon [but I also honor them for their service to our country]?). Can anybody name ONE thing Trump has ever done to serve his country that didn’t also serve himself? I will give him credit for one thing: nobody has ever known better how to use corporate bankruptcy laws to get himself out of living up to his agreements. Yeah, his word really means a lot. And the sad thing is that with him out of the picture, the Republicans MIGHT have a chance (not Cruz, Huckabee, Walker, and other far righties).
