I’m glad Judge Sheldon is retiring

We’re a little late on this one, but in Monday’s Courier-News column we covered Judge Timothy Sheldon’s inexplicable sentence reduction in the Kathleen Koch case.

Kathleen Koch

If you recall, Koch is the one who stood by and watched while her heroin addict boyfriend beat her 2 year-old daughter, Molly, to the point where she will never fully recover.

And one month after sentencing her to 8 years, with no real explanation, Sheldon cuts it in half. Sometimes mercy can be misplaced.

Normally, I’d ask you to enjoy the column, but that word would not be appropriate in this tragic case.

Judge Sheldon has a history of such lax sentencing.
This is why he acquired the nickname of; Timothy “Catch and Release” Sheldon.
